Why Would I Need All-on-6 Implants?

If you are missing all of the teeth in your upper or lower jaw, or if most of your teeth are damaged beyond repair, all-on-6 implants may be right for you. This treatment option can also be a good choice for patients who have severe gum disease and are not candidates for traditional dental implants. As a permanent solution, all-on-6 implants can help you regain the ability to eat and speak properly, as well as improve your overall oral health.

What Is the Procedure for Getting All-on-6 Implants?

The first step in the all-on-6 implant process is to have a consultation with your dentist or oral surgeon. During this visit, your doctor will examine your mouth and take X-rays to determine if you are a candidate for this treatment. If you are, the next step is to have the implants placed. This surgery is usually performed under general anesthesia, which means you will be asleep during the procedure. Your dentist will make incisions in your gums and place the implants into your jawbone. Once the implants are in place, your gums will be stitched up and you will be taken to a recovery area.

How Long Do All-on-6 Implants Take?

All-on-6 implants take multiple appointments over the course of several months. The first appointment is for the consultation, which will include a thorough examination of your mouth. If you are determined to be a good candidate for all-on-6 implants, the next appointment will be for surgery. This surgery usually takes about two hours, but it can vary depending on the individual case. Once the implants are placed, you will need to wait for them to heal and integrate with the jawbone. This process can take up to six months. After the implants have healed, you will come back for a final appointment to have your replacement teeth placed.

"I’ve been going to Dental Masters of Alexandria for years and a patient of Dr. Laviola since he started practicing here. He’s very personable, knowledgeable, takes time to explain procedures (I’ve had quite a few!) and is just an amazing dentist. The entire staff is wonderful, always helpful and friendly. Highly recommend!"

"I have been a patient of Dr. Laviola's for several years now, and this is the best dental practice I have ever been to. Dr. Laviola and the whole team takes extraordinary care to make sure you are always comfortable throughout any cleaning and procedure, both major and minor (I have had both). The entire support team is also great."

Brett E.

"Dr. Laviola explained everything down to the last detail ..Soon after I was getting prepared for a life-changing event with dental implants.
